Synopsis

Constantino died yesterday morning. He is in limbo and, as he waits to discover what eternity has in store for him, he recalls important moments from the life he lived.

A closeted gay man, he decided as a child to suppress his desire and took on the role of a heterosexual man. He married his teenage girlfriend and had two children. He lived under the illusion of a perfect family life.

An unexpected tragedy, however, unsettles the foundations of his family. As his wife withdraws from everyone and begins to live in fear, he starts to consider other ways of inhabiting the world.

On a business trip to Brasília, he meets a man he had encountered on the Internet. From that moment on, an entire universe of experiences opens up before Constantino — including love.

How far is it possible to hide from oneself? That is the question Cloro seeks to answer. A brief study of the irresistible force of sexuality, Alexandre Vidal Porto's novel portrays, with clarity and sensitivity, the most intimate conflicts of a repressed man.
